Bathroom update.

{I know, it's an iPhone picture. This room gets absolutely no natural light AND it's cloudy and gloomy outside, so using my regular camera wasn't an option. Trust me, I tried.}

It's so satisfying when a project comes together just as you envisioned it- But unfortunately, that wasn't the case with my bathroom.

I had lots of fun plans for it, but only half of those plans came to life {so far}.

Here's what it looked like before...

I pained the walls in a creamy white and love the fresh feel it automatically gave the space!

I also painted the vanity in a pretty minty blue- And love it as well! I wanted the pop of color since all the walls in the master and bathroom are white and this was the perfect way to add it.

Changing that tiny mirror out for the bigger one was a huge change, as well! Amazing what a good mirror does for a space! And I already had it sitting in the garage, so win-win!!!

I covered the white formica countertops with a faux marble contact paper and it would of looked amazing, if the print of the "marble" was accurate to the picture on the site I ordered it from, but it wasn't. It has a yellowish greenish color to it- totally not what I was going for.
I'm still trying to decide if I absolutely hate it or if I can live with it. Thankfully, it comes off easy and leaves absolutely no residue, if I do decide to remove it.
I did have the option to send it back and get a refund, but I didn't want to pay the return shipping.

I figured since I was taking the effort to make the vanity the focal point of the room, I would change out the drawer pulls as well. I love these simple ones, but really wanted them in a brushed gold. They only came in silver, so I spray painted them. Not the best idea, considering they're stainless steel. I think they'll be okay, but not sure how long I have before the paint starts to scratch off.

I still have plans for the toilet room {it's separate from this space}, but again, my first plans didn't work, so I just need to put the project aside, be patient and wait. It's also ending up costing me more than I wanted to spend, which is another reason I need to wait and be smart about my next purchase.

I really wanted to share some pretty pictures with you of the space all done, but this will have to do for now.

Thankfully I have lot's of other things to keep me busy, you know- like laundry, dishes, making dinner, etc. Speaking of, I should probably get off the couch and go tackle some of those chores.

Happy almost Friday, friends!

Drink cart || 2 ways

The great thing about decorating your home, or even what you wear, is there aren't really any rules about what you can or can't do. If you like it, go for it!

The same goes for a drink/bar cart. I love that there are so many ways you can use one!

I use mine in the most traditional way- for drinks, but styled it in my living room, to show you how fun it is to use it for other things!

My cart is from Target, but I found it brand new, at Goodwill!!! Can you believe that I actually left without it?! Then I came to my senses and drove back 10min later to retrieve it.
It sits in a little corner in my dining/kitchen area and it's the perfect spot for it.

I don't normally have this many glasses sitting out in the open {cause 4 sets of little hands is dangerous}, but took all my pretty glasses out for these pictures.

These vintage glasses were my most recent thrift find. I'd say $12 is a great deal for 6 glasses. I only wish there were more!

There's literally a million ways you can use this to store your drinks, glasses, etc, but I like to keep it simple. But fresh flowers? A must, in my books.

They make it look luxe and I always say that fresh flowers bring life to any space.

Here's one more look at where it's tucked away. I love that the pink from the print ties in with the fresh flowers, as well. Even in a little corner, a love a feminine touch!

After I moved the cart to the living room, I honestly didn't want to move it back. I absolutely loved it as a side table!

It's unexpected, but still so functional! Not to mention, the gold worked so well in there!

I did end up putting it back in the kitchen, but if I ever get tired of it in there, I know exactly where it's going!

Don't be afraid to try something different. You may not like it, but you may end up loving it!

Weekend at the snow.

The one great thing about living in the PNW is you get all 4 seasons to the fullest- so we packed our bags and headed a few hours east to get our snow fix.

I wish I could say I came home relaxed and rejuvinated after being away for 3 days, but we all know that aint true, when your traveling with young kids. We did enjoy ourselves, though!

We played in the snow, lounged around, ate yummy food and went ice-skating.
I had all my family with me {sisters, brother and my mom}, too. We hadn't done a weekend all together in a while, and thought it would be fun for all the cousins.

We are back at home, now, and back to reality tomorrow morning.
Thankfully the kids don't have school tomorrow, so we can properly un-pack and relax before we REALLY start the week, on Tuesday.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend, as well, and I'm hoping I'll have some pictures of the finished master bathroom sometime this week {fingers crossed}, too!

Living room update.

Every year when January rolls around, and all the Christmas decorations come down, I feel like hitting the 're-fresh' button in my entire house. I automatically crave Spring and everything fresh and airy.

I've come to terms that my living room will never stay the same for long, cause it's just too fun to change it up. And because it's the first thing you see when you walk through the door, it'll be the first space that'll get that after-christmas-refresh

In my last post I mentioned that I finally ordered the rug I wanted, and today it finally arrived! So instead of packing for our weekend trip to the snow, I unwrapped the rug and put it into place, which then lead to photographing the living room. I can't help myself!

Let me just remind you what the living room looked like before Christmas…

And here it is today…

Amazing what a new rug and furniture placement does for a space!

The first thing I did was change out the pretty velvet curtains, for these white beauties. These are the ones I originally planned on having in here, but wanted to try something different and liked it, until I changed the rug and added the shelves.

If you look at the space as a whole, the velvet curtains just would of been too dark.

And you guys, I added shelves!!!

That big wall was depressingly empty, even with the pretty mirror.
And since I don't have a fireplace mantle, I wanted to try shelves.

I drove to IKEA last week and picked up the lack shelves. I was gonna have hubby build some for me, but when I saw how cheap these were, I decided they would work just as great for what I was looking for.

It was so much fun being able to display things that have been in boxes since we've moved- but guys, holy moly… Who knew that styling them is so much work!!!

It took me days and days to try and figure out where things would be placed and lots of things that I really wanted up there, just didn't work.

There are still a couple of small pieces that I would like to add, but other than that, they're pretty much done. I'm already planning some small, but fun changes for Valentines day!

I love that I'll be able to change them, according to the seasons- That's my favorite part!

If your trying to figure out what else looks different in here, it's the mirror.
We came home from dinner one night and I decided it was time to give it a fresh coat of paint. It lightened up the space drastically, but to balance out all the white, I added the bench from our room and I absolutely love it in here!!!

I also made the 'gather' sign, but have yet to frame it out and actually hang it. It's just resting on the mirror, for now.

The other side of the living room, I moved the matching chairs and brought this vintage one down from our room.

Again, why didn't I think to move it down here sooner?!
It softened the space up so much! And I totally don't mind that theres only one and not two- It makes the space look less cluttered.

I also picked up a couple of new throw pillows from Marshalls the other day. I can't resist the clearance isle :)

And back to the rug. #hearteyes

It's just as soft as it looks in the picture!

Oh, hi!
It's always a plus when I match the space I'm photographing. Just kidding. Okay, but really.

And just one more look at the whole living room!

I'm so pleased with the way it's turned out and I can't wait to snuggle up and sip on some coffee in here. Maybe once the kids are tucked in, tonight…

Hope your all having a great week!

I know, I promised to have some pretty bathroom pictures for you, but time got away from me and I was waiting for things to arrive.
The downside to ordering online is you never know what your gonna get, so theres an item I need to return and re-order- sigh.
I can say that I am about half way done, though!

Here's a small peak…

I wonder how many of you thought that the color was actually going on the walls, rather than the vanity, when you saw the project board :)

I've also been working on my living room- AGAIN.
Once all the Christmas decorations came down, it was extremely empty in there, which is what I was afraid was going to happen.

I'm not quite finished and I'm still waiting for my new rug to arrive, so again, heres a little sneeky-poo...

The rug is scheduled to arrive in a couple of days and I can't tell you how excited I am!
I've been eyein' it since last summer and I finally caved and got it when rugsUSA was having a huge sale on all their rugs!

I wish I could say the bathroom will be done by this weekend, but I doubt it's going to happen since we leave for 3 days, on Thursday. I WILL have the living room complete!

So excited to share it with you! I love when a space comes together unexpectedly!
