Spring in the master bedroom.

Since the weather here has been amazing, I thought it would be a good time to take some pictures of the master bedroom, since it has good light, you know, when the sun is actually out.

The room has lots of white, which is a great canvas for pops of color.

The first thing I did to freshen the room up was add some fresh flowers. A few stems of Hyacinth, from the flower garden, and the room suddenly has life.

I usually don't put flowers on the hubby's side, but he loves these pretty flowers, so I added one simple stem on his nightstand. I think he secretly appreciates it.

Blooming tree's is one of my weaknesses. I absolutely love the big branches stretching out in no particular way in my fun, gold vase.

The little pink flowers are such a feminine touch, without being overpowering.

More romantic touches on the nightstand- like a candle and my vintage, hand held mirror. And I don't mind the little flower petals scattered all over.

Here's a view from the other side, into the entrance of the master bath. It's not the most pretty and the bathroom needs a makeover, but that doesn't keep me from making it as pretty as I can, for the time being.

The spotted curtains are a big focal point in the room and that's exactly what I wanted. Because they took me a thousand hours to make. Yes, I painted the spots by hand. Four curtain panels. I wouldn't recommend it, although I do love them.

The white headboard is also a favorite of mine as well- BUT, if I knew then what I know now. It gets dirty. Leaning your head on it eventually leaves a dark area and it doesn't really come out, sigh.
I even sprayed it with a fabric protector before we used it, but that didn't seem to help.

I kept the decor super simple in here, cause it felt more calming and a year later, I still love it.
There were a couple of times I tried to change things, like add a gallery wall above the dresser, but I took it down a couple of days later. I just loved the simplicity in here.

Sometimes it's not the stuff you put in a room, but what you put in there that matters. Because don't forget, your the one who gets to enjoy it, day in and day out!
If something doesn't feel right, switch it out!

Hope this inspires you to freshen up a space that needs some extra attention!
And be patient, it might take weeks for it to feel "right"- But always enjoy the process.

Spring is almost here.

You guys, it has literally been sunshine, rainbows and unicorns around here- All of this sunshine we've had this past week is beyond glorious!

I wish I had some pretty pictures of the house or something, but when you live in Oregon and it's been dry for almost a week, in February, you take advantage!

Today in the evening, Isabelle asked if she and I could have tea out on the front lawn.
The grass was still a bit damp, but how can you say no- She was so excited to set it all up!

So while the boys rode their bikes, I enjoyed tea and admired all of the blooming flowers.

Hubby has planted an array of Hyacinth and they are absolutely beautiful and smell AMAZING!!!

Also, this fun little tree- I wish I knew what it was called. I thought it was a curly willow, but I'm thinking not. Either way, I love the little hangy things it grows in the Spring!

I could just keep writing about flowers and Spring and how much I love it all, but you've already heard it before, so I'll spare you. But beware- Once everything is in full bloom around here, that's all you'll see on the blog- FLOWERS. And lots of them.

Now, tomorrow's Friday- So- Happy weekend!!!

Weekend.

Today was one of those days, where you left all the chores and everything else behind and headed outside.

It had been raining for the last 3 days, so when we woke up to sunshine and dry weather, I knew we needed to take advantage of it.

Since Gabe {the oldest} was at a church camp and hubby was working, I decided to take the kids to the park. I needed the fresh air as much as they needed to get some energy out.

They got to play on the playground and I got to snap some pictures of the first signs of Spring.

The Camellia's had just started to bloom and my gosh, they are just stunning!!!

They had about 4 different kinds and I just wanted to dig the bushes up and take them home with me!!!

This striped pink one was my favorite.

This girl. She is a girl after momma's own heart. She loves flowers just as much as I do and her future job is to be a floral assistant.

Even the boys smiled for some pictures!

We took a walk around the historical neighborhood and took pictures of pretty houses, too.

Those shutters slay me!

And overgrown porches…

And more flowers, sigh.

And this darling, mint colored house. #allthehearteyes

or how about these Hellebores?!

After I exhausted the kids as much as I could, we headed for dessert- Cookies, brownies and cake for this mama. And more flowers, of course.

Now, those chores that were put aside are now waiting…

Enjoy your weekend!!!

Favorite products.

I sort of have this thing where, if I really, truly, love something, I HAVE to share it with everyone!

Finding the right mascara, lipstick, blush, etc, isn't the easiest, especially if you have fussy/ sensitive skin. Thankfully I don't, but it's still taken me years to find the things that work well with my oily/dry skin.

Some of these I've used for years and some I've just recently discovered- but either way- I'm hooked!!!

I have long, thick hair that is heavy, so getting volume up top isn't the easiest for me. I usually have to tease it so it doesn't look flat, but this stuff, this stuff is magic! Not only does it help my hair look "clean", but it gives it volume! I don't know how or what ingredient is in there, but it works!
Now, I know it's on the spendier side, considering the size, but if your in the same boat as me, when it
comes to your hair, I promise, you'll LOVE this stuff!
 {I have also seen it at Freddy's for a little cheaper than ULTA}

Elf matte lip color in "Rich Red"-

Let's be honest- A good red lipstick is hard to find! Especially one that is the perfect shade for your skin tone. I've been using this one for years, after my MUA friend suggested it and I can't say enough good things about it! The best part? It's only $3 and sometimes you can even find it at the $1 store!
This one has a blue undertone, which is great for olive or yellow toned skin. But the texture is what sold me. And it's a twist up. #winwin

Elf expert liquid liner in "Jet Black"-

I've tried many, many liquid liners, because I prefer them over the pencil ones and although I haven't spent the money on name brand ones, I feel I don't need to.
I'm obsessed with this one and you can't beat the price!
I love the thin, little brush and the consistency is exactly what I was looking for in a liquid liner.

Maybelline define-a-brow pencil in "Medium Brown"-

Why is a good brow pencil hard to find?! I refuse to use a brush/dip brow system, cause it takes way more time then I normally have, so a good pencil is key!
I've used this one for years and again, the consistency is just perfect! I also like that the pencil itself is thin and small and easier to maneuver when it comes to filling in my brows. And again, the price point is perfect for my budget.
I've also heard that this is very similar to a brow pencil that Mac carries and it's twist up!

Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair moisturizer-

I have a combination of oily and dry skin so I felt there wasn't the "perfect"moisturizer out there. Most I tried made my skin more oily than normal and that drove me crazy.
Again, my MUA friend recommended this one and it has been so good to my skin! Not to mention- I'm not getting any younger, so anything to minimize those wrinkles that are slowly starting to show up, is a must.
So far, Wal-Mart has the best price for it, but all drug stores carry it.

Revlon cream blush-

I'm not picky about blush, and I'll pretty much use any kind, but I really love this stuff and have been using it for about 2yrs.
I have "Coral Reef" for when I do a red/coral lip and "Flushed" for when I do a pink lip. The only downside is that you have to use your fingers to apply it, but I love the creamy texture and that it gives a more vibrant color than a powder blush.

MAC powder blush in "Blunt"-

Now, I know this says it's a blush, but really, I use this as a bronzer. It has the perfect matte finish {my favorite} and gives me that healthy glow without adding a shimmer.

Marcelle BB cream in "Golden Glow"-

A few months ago, a friend shared some samples with me, from her birchbox {I know, I'm probably the only person on the planet that isn't signed up for one of those monthly boxes, of some sort} and one of the little samples included this AMAZING bb cream!
I just didn't have it in me to go to the beauty store and try hundreds different kind, to find one I love, so when I tried this and fell in love with it the minute it hit my skin, I knew that I needed to order some.
Shipping from Canada is brutal, but I'm tellin' you, it's worth it! And I know most of you will appreciate the fact that it's gluten/paraben/oil free!!!

L'Oreal Voluminous mascara in "Black"-

I've used this since I was 14 and I still love it til this day! My eyelashes are fairly thin and not super long, so the thick mascara and curved brush is like a magic potion for them!

Phew! That turned out to be a longer post than I had anticipated, but I hope you fall in love with some of these, as much as I have! There could have been a couple more things that I could have shared, but I'll save those for another post.

Hope you had a great Valentines day and your week is off to a good start.
Hey, at least you can look good, if it's not going great, right?!

Spring tablescape.

I've mentioned it before, but Spring is my favorite season- blooming trees, new life! A new hope, another chance.

A couple of years ago, I put together one of my favorite tablescapes, using things I already had on hand and pink Camellias from a friend.

I'm a firm believer in using things you already have, or repurposing something, not intended for it's main purpose.

When I purchase anything for the house, as much as I love color, I ALWAYS stick with neutrals and the biggest reason is, it can be used year round, for any occasion or season.

I absolutely love the bright pink flowers against the mercury glass vase!

I re-used these empty spice bottles as tiny vases, too!

I had some extra fabric on hand, so I made some napkins and then used green gingham ribbon as a fun touch against the gray/white striped napkin.

I spent $0 on this entire table, all it took was some time and creativity!

I mean, how pretty would this be for an all girls brunch?!

I do wish I would have had a table cloth to cover the table, but the dark wood was a great back drop for all the whites/grays.

I've been itching to do another fun tablescape, for Valentines day. I'll see if I can muster up the energy and get my creative juices flowing, in time for the big day!
I'm a sap for Valentines day, I don't know why, I just am. So anything to make it that much more special!

Anyone doing anything super special for V-day?? I'd love to know about it!

Friyay.

I'm so glad it's finally Friday, but I had a rough night.

#3 was up half of the night with a stomach ache, which this morning turned into the stomach bug. For the second time in 3 weeks.

But that sunrise, from when I walked outside this morning, was a sweet confirmation that God is still good.

I also started this amazing study by Priscilla Shirer 3 weeks ago, about strengthening our prayer life, and I absolutely love it! It was definitely an area I needed to focus on, in my life.

Other than that, things have been pretty quiet around here.
I haven't been out much for the last couple of weeks, so I don't venture to my favorite thrift stores or Target for that matter, and buy things I don't need. Because we all know we can't walk out of Target without spending at LEAST $50 on things we had no intentions of buying.

I know there's still a little over a month until the official first day of Spring, but we've had some sunshine around here and it makes me SO happy!!!

Spring is by far my favorite season, so I am impatiently awaiting for all new life to start blooming!!!

Hope your all having a good week and enjoy your weekend!!!
